SD/HD videos - how to? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi

Following a forum discussion here (forum.hwdmediashare.co.uk/forum/28-featu...limit=7&start=14) on HD videos, I have installed the latest nightly build hwdVideoShare 2.1.6 Revision 284 Beta, using JW player version 5.

Can anyone please tell me, using this, how to have the SD/HD button appear on the player? And what are the formats of the two videos? Same name, what extensions?

We are currently using Import Remote to load videos in .mov format, without using the converter.

Thanks very much for any help.

It is correct that this button will only really be working for "local" videos at the moment. Up until now, the button was only added to the default template but it has just been extended to all template. The button should therefore show on all videos. If no "HD" video is available it will just re-load the same quality video.

At the moment, only "local" videos have a method of having two quality video. hwdVideoShare wouldn't know where to look for a HD version of a remote video. In the future, we will look into options to get this working, especially with the larger video sharing website such as Youtube and DailyMotion. However, at the moment the loading of the actual HD video isn't as important (from my design point of view). My main concern at the moment is that the button correctly re-load a new video player when pressed.

Davros, you may have a look to the system they use on www.themovievault.net/video/single-gaming-3-strel.

This might be a good solution to switch between video quality, having both buttons is always a better deal.

It would be great to use pictures too, then each webmaster could create pictures depending on their video quality. For exemple i use 432P for my FLV and 720P for the mp4, but an other HWDVS customer might use some other settings. So we can both create or custom switching pictures.

Hope this makes sens.

This file will be used to change the buttons used in hwdVideoShare... allow you to use custom images etc etc. This is just a plan so won't be implemented soon. Just giving you a heads up.
